Sam McLaughlin with his Eagle - circa 1889. The McLaughlin Carriage Co was one of Canada's leading carriage makers - but Sam wanted to dabble with cars so he teamed up with Buick to make McLaughlin Buick for the Canadian market. GM eventually bought him out and he became President of GM Canada. He became very wealthy - gave up bicycles for cars, was a major philanthropist, and lived to become 100 years old - which proves that riding an Eagle must be good for you.

KEY ADVICE:
  1. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HEALTH COVERAGE VALID IN CANADA
  2. FOR U.S. VISITORS - YOU NEED A VALID PASSPORT TO GET BACK INTO THE U.S.*
*When we planned the Canada Wheelmen meet last Fall the US Government had announced that US citizens returning to the US from Canada would need a passport to re-enter the US by the summer of 2006. That date has since been pushed back a year, to 2007, and is still being debated in Washington. As it stands, you will need valid photo identification to re-enter the US this summer. If uncertain, check the US Customs and Border protection web site where it states (on 15 June 2006):
*US citizens are exempt from passport requirements. However, it is highly recommended that a U.S. Citizen be prepared to present documentation such as valid or expired U.S. passport, U.S. birth certificate, or Naturalization certificate to avoid delays."
